It's November 1st and the start of the holiday season is in full swing for many. Undoubtedly, any store you visit will have all of their Christmas decorations and merchandise in full display. Some radio stations may even begin playing Christmas music. Malls will begin to become overly crowded and grocery store lines will get increasingly longer. With all of the hustle and bustle of the season, it becomes easy to forget and lose sight of the true meaning of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
Let's face it, our lives are busy, hectic and sometimes stressful. It's easy to complain about life's complications, but sometimes more difficult to have a spirit of thankfulness and give praise. So, for the month of November, each day I will post something that I'm thankful for that particular day. I hope you will join me in this "Month of Thanks." Post what you're thankful for in the comments section or post on Twitter with the hashtag #monthofthanks. Let our lives be filled with thanks this month. Maybe a change in attitude and a change of heart will lead to peaceful, thankful life...
So, here's my Day 1 of the "Month of Thanks":
It's the 1st of the month, which means there are lots of bills due today. My husband and I have gone through some pretty tight and lean times in the past. About 2.5 years ago, my husband and I endured some financial hardship and unfortunately took on some extra debt. We've been diligently working at paying down that debt. There were sacrifices and we didn't really enjoy many "extras." New clothes, dining out and other non-essentials took a back seat and we focused on paying anything extra towards our debt. Our situation is improving everyday. So, rather then complain about all of the bills, I'll give thanks and be grateful that my family has the money to pay those bills. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and know there's a harvest coming soon.
What are you thankful for today?
