Nighttime Cloth Diapering Made Easy - A Giveaway!

I have been cloth diapering for over a year now and along the way, I've picked up a few fluffy tricks from fellow cloth diapering mommas and from pure trial and error.  From meeting local cloth diapering mommas, from chatting with them on Facebook group pages and other cloth diaper forums, it seems like many mommas struggle with cloth diapering at nap time and nighttime.  I used to be one of those mommas.

When I began cloth diapering my little one in August 2011, cloth diapering during the day time was a breeze right from the get-go.  Naptime and bedtime were a different story though. When my little one first started wearing cloth diapers, it took some adjusting.  I mean, his bottom was pretty "fluffy" with a cloth diaper.  Naptime was a struggle because I think he felt a little uncomfortable with so much "fluff."  Bedtime didn't work as the microfiber inserts just couldn't hold all of the urine and when I double-stuffed a pocket diaper, it was just way to thick.  My youngest is a pretty heavy wetter and for the longest time, I used a disposable at night instead of cloth.  I really wanted to cloth diaper full-time, but for awhile it just didn't work for us and that was super disappointing.

I started to do a little research.  I found an amazing blog post from Cotton Babies that seemed to address my issue... Overnight Cloth Diapering.  Bam.  This amazingly informative post got the ball rolling for me.  According to the post from Cotton Babies:

The simple answer is natural fibers.  A natural fiber like hemp is great for overnight cloth diapering because of its durability, absorbency, and it's natural anti-microbial properties. This means your baby will be protected naturally from bacteria, mold, mildew and fungus.

On my quest to successful overnight cloth diapering, I visited my local cloth diaper store in search of a hemp/cotton blend insert and/or pre-fold to use inside a pocket diaper.  I wanted to conquer this fluffy obstacle and decided to purchase two Thirsties hemp inserts.

In the mean time, I was contacted by Londonware.  Wendy, the creator of Londonware Fleece Diaper covers, contacted me about trying and reviewing her diaper cover.  Talk about perfect timing.  I was intrigued with the Londonware Fleece Diaper covers and of course jumped on the opportunity to try this new product.  I was so excited.  The Londonware Fleece Diaper Cover looked promising and I couldn't wait to put it to the test.

So, on March 26, 2012, I decided this would be the night.  On the first night of trying cloth diapers on my little one, I used a hemp insert/fleece diaper cover combo.  I put my little one in a pocket diaper and used 2 of the Thirsties hemp inserts.  I put the Londonware fleece cover over the diaper and into my little one's Halo Sleep Blanket he went.  I have to admit, I was a little nervous.  I kept thinking, "I sure hope he doesn't leak out at 3am. Please, God, let this diapering combo WORK!"

Anyhow, my little one went to bed that night at 8:15pm and slept until 8:30am the following morning!   When I went to get my little one out of his crib that morning, his sleep blanket was dry.   Yes!   I removed the sleep blanket and his pj's were dry!   YES!   My little one had leaked out a little bit, but the Londonware diaper cover kept anything from leaking out onto his pj's and sleep blanket!   VICTORY!  Thanks to the Londonware fleece cover, my little one had a peaceful, restful and DRY night's rest.  A little side note, but besides making insanely cute and adorable fleece diaper covers, Londonware also makes custom longies,  reusable sandwich bags, snack bags and more!  Visit Londonware's Etsy Shop for a preview of all of their awesome products!

I was  super excited to have found an overnight cloth diapering solution that worked for us. It felt like a victory for me.   But, hey, it's the small things, right?  Rather then waking up to soaked sheets, I woke up to my to find complete dryness!

Cloth diapering at naptime and bedtime has now been a breeze and I would love to bless another cloth diapering momma with some fluffy goodness!  Londonware has graciously offered to bless a Toni The Chic Momma reader with a Londonware Fleece Diaper cover!  Thank you, Londonware for your generosity!  To sweeten the deal, I'm also throwing in a Green Bee's one-size pocket diaper AND a Thirsties Hemp Pre-Fold.

So, let's get to the giveaway!  There are TWO MANDATORY entries on the Rafflecopter form and the other entries are simply extras for more chances to win! 1. I haven't cloth diapered in years, and them I used the old-fashioned flat diapers. I don't recall it being a problem, I just double-diapered. But none of my kids have been heavy wetters; when they're potty-trained, it's at night as well as daytime!

    ReplyDelete
  14. we use cloth diapers overnight, but we're getting to the point where we prefer wool covers or longies for an extra safety net. We haven't tried fleece soakers yet!

    ReplyDelete
  15. We have been mostly successful so far, but our daughter is only 8 months old and we have already had to tweak our nighttime routine a few times to prevent leaks. I would love to try some new products to make sure she stays dry all night!

    ReplyDelete
  16. We usually have no issues. We'll either double-stuff a pocket or AIO.. or we'll use a prefold with a microfiber insert and microfleece stay-dry liner lain inside, covered up with wool longies. We'll also use baby powder on him, so between the powder and fleece he feels dry enough to keep sleeping

  17. I have not yet suxccessfully cloth diapered overnight- and these products would absolutely help! :) I am new to the CD scene, on baby #5! But its never too late! I am really excited about using cloth!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I actually started out diapering at night! :-) Disposables leaked ALL OVER, and I was fed up. My son was day time trained and baby #2 was on the way, I decided cloth was the way to go and started out with pocket diapers, with microfiber inserts. Believe it or not, they actually WORKED! Unlike the disposables! :-) Now I do like prefolds or fitteds and wool, but there are a few pocket diapers I will use (with cotton, bamboo or hemp inserts).

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  39. We haven't found anything that works for overnight so I've been using sposies.

    ReplyDelete
  40. We usually use disposables at night even though he still leaks sometimes

    ReplyDelete
  41. We've got a hard time overnight sometimes because baby is round, but not tall, so having a diaper on the right rise settings leaves leg gaps, and tight legs leave red marks on her hips. We need a new routine!

    ReplyDelete
  42. We are getting ready to start and I would love different options

    ReplyDelete
  43. As my toddler gets older, night time diapering is more difficult. This would be a great way to try new options!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Night has been hit or miss for the last two weeks, but Flip organic seems to work. I'd love to try Thirsties hemp as a trimmer alternative!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  53. I used disposables at night until just recently. These would be great for my night time diapering!(Michelle Ferguson)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I need a good cloth diapering system at night. mine is that I change their diapers in the night around midnight. Luckly they don't wake up.

    ReplyDelete
  55. My daughter isn't here yet, so I don't know. But these will definitely help! :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. i have not yet successfully figured out the nighttime cloth diapering thing!! :( these prizes would definitely help!! thanks so much!

  57. We almost always have nighttime leaks. :(
Hopefully this prize package could help us solve that problem.

    ReplyDelete
  58. overnight is hit and miss for me. one of my biggest problems is that half the time my son gets up wet and wanting to be changed about half an hour after I put him to bed. I dont have many changes of good night time diapers, so I never know if I should put him to bed in a night time diaper and have to change it before he even goes to sleep, or wait and hope it is not one of the nights when goes right on to sleep. I think the prize package would help because more night time diapers would mean I do not have to worry about running out.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Our daughter is a super soaker and still occasionally pees out, I would love to try these products.

  60. my son just started sleeping through the night this week so it will be nice to have something for nights. i've been thinking my diapers were ok but his sleep sack isn't always dry

    ReplyDelete
  61. We use Kawaii Baby for night and they seem to work great, but would always love to add more to my stash!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I have been able to and yes these would help me out!
My son does best in fitteds with covers at night, but his PUL covers aren't breathable enough and he wakes up red every morning (it goes away throughout the day), so the fleece would help us.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Currently we use disposables overnight. we only have two cloth diapers that work for overnight, but the cover we put over them doesn't quite cover completely... I have a very big baby...

    ReplyDelete
  64. I have had pretty good success with fitteds and covers for nighttime, but when my baby was younger we had a lot of leaks, so I'd like to try a fleece cover to, because I don't have any of those.

    ReplyDelete
  65. so far my son is 3 months old and I just use Flip diapers and inserts and he doesn't look. I'm guessing as he gets older and pees more we'll have to bring out the big guns and I have heard fleece is amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I CD overnight successfully with a bamboo fitted and a wool cover, but would love to give a fleece cover a try!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I am about to start cloth diapering, and nightime leaks are one of my biggest worries. would love to start off successful!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yes, all three kids. My last child is slow on training so we're looking for new options. All other had been trained 6 months by now. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  69. we have some good ones now, but it took a while. though shes only 9 months, so i hope it doesnt get worse as she gets older.

    ReplyDelete
  70. We don't have a little one yet, but finding the most consistently successful combination sounds a little scary (changes by child, age etc). Also what Heather M. and Sweet-t01 shared are issues I hadn't heard about before. Thanks for the review and to the ladies for their info.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I hope to when the baby gets here.

  78. So far we cloth our 7 mo overnight with little issue. Occasionally there is a leak, but mostly he's fine through the night in a pocket w/microfiber.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I usually have good luck cloth diapering overnight but I know a few moms who have struggled so I'd probably give these to them if I won. I wouldn't want them to give up on CDing because of this hurdle!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Yes it took some time, but with the help of a fitted (with extra inserts) & a wool cover we had dry mornings. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  81. I have been struggling with nighttime diapering. Some nights we are good and then others my son will soak the bed and the bad part of that is he sleeps with us. When I go to change him he will wake up and is ready to start the day so I am really needing to find a reliable nighttime diaper setup

    ReplyDelete

  88. would love to try these!

    ReplyDelete
  89. In the beginning, when my daughter was itty bitty, we were successful with cloth diapering overnight. But she has since then become a heavy wetter at night and no matter what we do, there's an accident when we use cloth at night.

    ReplyDelete
  90. i can't wait to start cloth diapering. this is my third baby but first time cloth diapering.....so excited!

    ReplyDelete
  91. We se disposables overnight, not because of leaks, but because of the ammonia burns on his bum, I would like to try your suggestions in hopes that a natural fiver would help with that too.

    ReplyDelete
  92. These would help me a lot. My son rarely has a night where he doesn't leak, and that's with using 3 inserts in a pocket diaper. I think this combo would really work.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I have had issues with diapering at night only because the gusset in my diapers just doesn't seem to hold everything in and therefore leaks. If the elastic is right next to her skin all the way around my baby girl's legs, I don't have a problem. Every night I struggle to get this fit without making her uncomfortable and it's truly frustrating. I've considered going back to disposable. We co-sleep and I keep a waterpoof layer under my sheets on her part of the bed. I hate waking up to find her wet beside me and having to get up and change the whole bed. Thankfully it seems that's not a nightly occurrence.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Yes, I currently cloth diaper at night with fitteds and covers. I've never tried a fleece cover, though.

    ReplyDelete
  95. My gDiapers work wonderfully at night. DD is not a super heavy wetter right now. A few months ago when I was having trouble with night time leaks I up-cycled an old wool sweater into diaper covers and used those.

    ReplyDelete
  96. We've been using sposies overnight for about 3 months... and they're not that much more reliable. DS (almost 11mos) still nurses multiple times a night, so he always needs a new diaper somewhere between 2 and 4am. I just bought a couple different brands of hemp inserts that were on clearance to hopefully find a solution! I don't mind changing him at night since he's waking to nurse, but I HATE going to feed him and finding him soaked.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yes! Both involve using a hemp insert as well as either a bamboo or a microfiber depending on whether we are using a Best Bottoms cover or a Fuzzibunz pocket.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Would love to win for when I have a child.

    ReplyDelete
  99. My son is only six weeks and proving to be a heavy wetter! Would love to have another option aside from a wet prefold:(

    ReplyDelete
  100. All our diapers are pocket diapers. I've been too scared to try anything new. We use an Alva pocket with a microfiber insert wrapped in a bamboo insert. Works about 70% of the time, but her jammies are usually a little wet around the top. I'd love to try out some new products and figure out what works best for us!

    ReplyDelete
  101. My little one has just started sleeping for longer stretches at night & I've been really worried about the leakage. Totally going to try this combo!

    ReplyDelete
  102. My son is an EXTREMELY heavy wetter, so we are still trying to find a solution for night time!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Overnight diapering has been kind-of a struggle for us too. I totally understand the feeling that baby is uncomfortable because he is too "fluffy". I would love to try out this system - my baby is just 4 mo. old - so we would get a lot of use out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  104. My baby is 1yr, annd while we LOVE cloth, we have yet (due to finances) to find a nighttime solution. This would help us tremendously

    ReplyDelete
  112. We use thirsties hemp at night but could always use more! :)

    ReplyDelete
  113. I can relate so well to this post! for a long time I too used disposible diapers at night. I have not tried a fleece cover yet but think I need too!

    ReplyDelete
  114. I cloth diaper at night using bamboo inserts and hemp boosters but I have never tried a fleece soaker.

    ReplyDelete
  115. OMG these items sound like heaven... I have not been able to cloth diaper at night. my little one is a very heavy wetter.Even during the day I can't go longer than a hour and a half. This my solve my issues!

    ReplyDelete
  116. The only way I've cloth diapered at night was with a pocket diaper stuffed with hemp, microfiber, cotton/hemp, and a zorb insert. That's a LOT, right?! We just don't have the money to get that many inserts to make it worthwhile so my in-laws buy us disposables for nighttime :(

    ReplyDelete
  117. I use Flip organic inserts with a flip cover. Never had leaks or problems! But my baby is starting to wet more at night so I am guessing it will have to change soon! Plus she is starting to sleep on her tummy and that means leaks! Yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I successfully cloth diapered my two older kids at night with double-stuffed Kawaii diapers and minimal leakage. Our newest bundle of joy seems to leak through everything...

    ReplyDelete
  119. I am new to cloth diapering. Thank you for this information! - Andrea R

  120. Nighttime has been the biggest struggle for us. I'd love to have another option to try!

    ReplyDelete
  121. With my first baby, we didn't have a problem CDing @ night...FuzziBunz perfect sized diapers worked great for him. HOWEVER, with our now older 1st and a 2nd baby, both are having wetness issues @ night :( Our second also deals w/ constant redness on her bum, so still trying to figure out a nighttime solution!

    ReplyDelete
  122. We struggle with cloth diapering every night. My son is a super soaker and we change him at least once in the night.Sometimes we cheat and use disposables. We would love to try this product!! Whitney

    ReplyDelete
  123. As sad it is, I have yet to cd at night due to DS being a super soaker. I have even tried wool! I am hoping that I win so that hopefully we can CD at night

    ReplyDelete
  124. I have a nighttime solution that works (double stuffed FuzziBunz), but it's pretty bulky. Would love to try something slimmer!

    ReplyDelete
  125. I'm new to cloth diapering, but these prizes are nothing I've tried before! Sounds like fun!

    ReplyDelete
  126. We have yet to find a good night time combo. I'd be curious to try the fleece in particular!

    ReplyDelete
  127. I have three boys in cloth at night-two of which I have successfully kept dry...the other, not so much!
I'd be interested to see if this would work for him

    ReplyDelete
  128. I'm about to try wool for nighttime, and would love to try fleece as well.

    ReplyDelete
  129. So far so good. My baby is 3 months and although we've had a couple leaks, I'm very confident in my prefolds and covers. Fitteds and covers also work well. I've never tried fleece covers, but I'd love to someday.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Been cloth diapering my 13-mo-old boy since birth. He's always been a VERY heavy wetter! We currently use 2 Thirsties hemp inserts + a fast-wicking microfiber insert all stuffed inside a pocket diaper. However, he still leaks out once in awhile. Would love to try the fleece cover!!

    ReplyDelete
  131. I love hemp, but I've been going back and forth between wool or fleece for covers.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I'm still learning about cloth diapering. Blogs like this help so much.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Overnight we use a flat with a padfolded bamboo Imagine prefold padfolded in the wetzone underneath fleece or wool.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I am about to start cloth diapering with baby #4. She will be my first and I have always had a problem with heavy wetters at night so I would be very interested to see how this solution works for my little one.

    ReplyDelete
  135. We haven't had any problems but, I love fleece covers! :)

    ReplyDelete
  136. Just started doing cloth, haven't tried overnight yet. Would love to try wool!

    ReplyDelete
  137. I had previously successfully CDed at night but now that my "baby" is a toddler, we seem to be having more problems

    ReplyDelete
  138. At times it seems to change as the baby continues to grow

    ReplyDelete
